January 9

Saturday...headed home tomorrow.  Not sure how the time has gone by so quickly but today was a good day for Boom-pa.  He was more awake, energetic and had the strength to force out more words for us.  It was wonderful to see, but sad as well and we all shed a few tears. Until he kicked us out LOL.  I hope this energy spurt lasts through Tuesday, to help his travel to Iowa be as smooth as possible.  I'm so glad he's able to get out of that facility, he really hates it there and I have a few doubts as to how well they are handling his care.

Caleb is the smart one in the family, it seems.  He had the foresight to stop and get a milkshake before arriving at the rehab/nursing home, and Boom-pa actually chugged a decent amount.  Then he had Caleb give him a joyride through the halls.  Talk about feeling like and inferior grandchild!  I wish I had brought him a milkshake!  Caleb brought along his cute little dog, Lefty, who was indeed one of the most endearing little canines I've ever met.  A perpetual pup, that dog was so addicted to Caleb that there was no need for a leash...running off meant leaving CALEB and that was just not an option!

When Granny went to visit Boom-pa, a gentleman who was a resident of the facility presented her with this rose as she was leaving.  I think it's a tribute to her character.  It shines out and touches those who don't even know her.  They are the best grandparents in the world.
